DAF, Tatra and VDL display unique military 6x6 truck at BEDEX 2026

At the Brussels European Defence Exhibition & Conference (BEDEX 2026), which will be organized from March 12 to 14, 2026, DAF Trucks, Tatra Trucks and VDL Groep will display a new state-of-the-art military DAF 6x6 truck, illustrating the successful cooperation of the  companies in designing, manufacturing and servicing the best possible military trucks, offering unsurpassed off road capabilities. The dedicated military CargoBody is supplied by the Dutch VDL Groep.

DAF Trucks, in cooperation with Tatra Trucks, just successfully completed the delivery of over nine hundred 4x4 and 8x8 trucks as part of a recent tender by the Belgian Ministry of Defence. The 4x4 rigids units are meant for general transport activities, whereas the 8x8 rigids are developed for special tasks such a transporting containers in off road circumstances. The impressive 8x8 tractors are designed for fast and quick recovery of vehicles during military operations.

Armoured cab on display
The new DAF military truck on display at BEDEX 2026 features a 6x6 powertrain with all six wheels driven. It will become available with a ballistic cab as well as with a civilian DAF cab with excellent interior space, low cab floor for maximum accessibility and outstanding safety because of amongst others the low window belt lines. The truck shown at the BEDEX 2026 features the armoured cab version supplied by Tatra Defence, providing a high level of ballistic and mine protection.

Unparallelled off road capabilities
Also the new DAF 6x6 military truck benefits from Tatra’s unique all-wheel drive driveline and the central, load-bearing tube with independent wheel suspension. This, in combination with the outstanding Central Tyre Inflation System, ensures unrivalled off-road performance and exceptionally comfortable driving, even in the most challenging terrain.

Maintenance support by DAF
Ballistic cabs are supplied by Tatra Defence; civilian cab versions come from DAF, which also supplies the PACCAR MX-13 engines. Together with the Belgian Armed Forces, DAF is also supporting maintenance of the over 900 vehicles already delivered, by its international network of over 1,150 dealers worldwide, which is ready for any further military deliveries in future.

Full suite of VDL Superstructures                                                       The 6x6 truck shown at BEDEX 2026 features a dedicated military CargoBody, manufactured by VDL Groep. It is just an example of the full suite of superstructures that fit the new DAF 6x6 Military truck and that are all specifically developed for use under the most demanding conditions.
